Reasons for picking this hotel:
Due to a last-minute schedule change, instead of going to Tokyo over New Year, I found myself in Bangkok. This also meant I had some time to visit my cousin who was vacationing in Koh Lanta, near Krabi. I wanted to spend a day on the mainland before going over to the island so I decided to book this hotel near Krabi town.
Transportation / Access:
Krabi town generally has limited public transport. I rented a car for the duration of my stay.
Room summary:
The room was quite spacious for the price, especially since I only booked it 4 days I arrived, during high season. I guess everyone wants to stay at the beach, which means city center hotels can be had for a bargain price, even during high season.
The floor was a clean, smooth tile. Two water glasses and two bottles of Singha water were provided. A hair dryer was also provided. A mini-fridge (empty) was below the desk. A TV and desk chair rounded out the desk area of the room. There was a small couch / luggage holder against the wall that could function as both a seating area as well as a place to unpack luggage. Air-conditioning unit was standard split-system and delightfully quiet. The platform bed was spacious and two pillows, and two sets of towels were provided.
There was a spacious balcony area as well, and it was nice to be able to just see the jungle-like surroundings of Krabi town. There is a bit of road noise as this was on the main road, but once the balcony door was closed it was not very noticeable. Standard Thai-style plugs that fit both North American and Europe style plugs were available on both bedside tables.
The bathroom was better than expected for this price. Thai budget-hotel standard, but the shower area was separated by a wall so that in general, the rest of the bathroom floor stays relatively dry. Many Thai hotels of this price point just have a shower that makes the entire bathroom floor wet. Q-tips, soap, shower cap, shampoo and shower gel completed the bathroom ammenities.
Check-in was a reasonable 14:00 and check-out generously at 12:00 noon.
Final thoughts:
For a clean, spacious room for this in Krabi town, last-minute during high-season for this price, I was very happy.
